13U Redbirds are Global Sports World Series Champions (7-18-10)

Early this morning, the 13U Redbirds faced a tough opponent in the semi-final game, but edged the GM Ragin Rams 4-2.  In the Championship Game, the bats were alive and the defense was stingy, as the Redbirds defeated the Kansas City Cougars 9-4, earning the Redbirds its first World Series Championship.

In what could have been a second World Series title within a matter of hours, the 12U Redbirds fell to the Des Moines Tigers in the Championship Game.  In the semi-final game, the 12U team got by the Jefferson City Vipers in a 3-1 battle.

Congratulations to both groups of young men for representing the Quad Cities in fine fashion!

To participate at a high level, it is not necessary that a player be an exceptional baseball talent, only that he has average or better athletic ability, a love for the game and a willingness to work to be the best he can be at the game. Hard work and dedication go along way in becoming an outstanding player.

Redbirds USSSA State Results

The 11U Redbirds fought valiantly, losing a one-run game to open the tournament and losing another after coming back from a 5 run deficit to tie the game in their last at-bat.  They finished 15th at the AAA level and closed the season with a 30-17 record.

The 12U Redbirds finished 6th at the Major level.

The 13U Redbirds clawed their way through the competition to meet up against the 3 time State Champion, Des Moines Oaks.  The Birds tied the game at 11 in the 7th inning, but things just didn't go their way.  The Oaks got a run in the bottom of the 7th, to hand the boys a runner-up finish.  A 2nd place finish at the Major level is nothing to be ashamed about.  Nice job fellas!

The goal of the Redbird organization is to provide a structured environment along with a healthy All-American setting that creates the best atmosphere for learning and growth for both the player and parent. The Redbirds devote their time to the spirit of the game by teaching baseball fundamentals in an environment that is intense, but still fun for the boys.

Each year the Redbirds field teams of the highest caliber players from all over the greater Quad City area. As a member of the Redbirds these boys are part of one of the most competitive baseball for players in their age division, they will obtain an increased knowledge in the game of baseball and will compete against some of the best teams on the local, state, and national levels. The Redbirds have currently fielded teams in the 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U divisions. The Redbirds compete with other area ball teams in the Mississippi Valley Baseball League (MVBL).

The Quad City Redbirds emphasize a team atmosphere that instills dedication, sportsmanship, character and courage along with allowing the boys to develop skills in the mental and physical aspects of the game of baseball. Our players and coaches are dedicated to America's pastime and are confident in the ability to field first-rate baseball teams.

The success of the Redbirds on and off the field is a result of the commitment of our players and parents. Without the dedication of these remarkable individuals we would not be able to accomplish the goals that we set each season.
